Lagoa, like the rest of Portugal has an important artistic heritage with importart monuments to visit during your holidays in the Algarve. The church Iglesia de la Misericordia from the XVII century is one of the most importants in it´s muncipality.

A century after the construction of the church of Misericordia , the church of Nuestra Señora de la Luz, a temple that is found in the heart of the historic center was built. It was built over an old hermitage dating back to the XVI century.

From the XVI centery is the Convent do San José, or the church Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Conceicao in Ferragudo, where you will also find the Fort of San Joao de Arade, also built in the XVII century.

Last but not least, in Porche lies the Hermitage Nuestra Señora do Rocha, or the Fort of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación in Carvoeiro, built in the XVII century to defend the town against pirates. Unfortunately it was partially destroyed by and earthquake in 1755.
